Google Maps Location History is showing an incorrect location

Monday 29th of April 2013 / android.stackexchange.com
I have a major problem that I hope someone can help with. On my Google Maps feature under my Location History it shows a location that I was never at at any point, but when my wife happened to see that location she doesn't believe me that the GPS could be wrong and pinpoint that location if I was never there.I was first wondering myself how could that could be possible if I was never there or my phone was never at that location that was 35 miles away from me and second is there any way I could prove the GPS being wrong? Can I contact Google Maps and can they give an official printout of that certain day and every location I was? I really need to prove my honesty to her and hope there is a way.

Incorrect Location Without GPS

Tuesday 19th of February 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello! I'm new here but I did try searching the forums on this site and others but haven't found others discussing the exact same problem so here goes. On my Galaxy S2, if I open Google Maps, my location shows my location incorrectly. I can understand without GPS it won't be exact, but I'm seeing my location as being at least a few blocks away no matter where I am. Same thing if I'm connected to Wifi, should that help or not? I used to own an old Windows Mobile 6.1 phone and before I would turn the GPS on, Google Maps would be off by a few feet, maybe a block or so. I was with Bell (CDMA) and I'm still with Bell (GSM). "Why don't you just enable GPS and forget about it", you'll say. My problem is that I need more accurrate locations without GPS. I use a Cerberus which will allow me to connect remotely to the phone to get it's location if it's lost or stolen. If the phone is on, no problem, Cerberus will enable GPS in the background and I'll get the location accurately. If the phone battery has died (which won't take long with the S2), I need to use the "Location Histo

Google maps location is hundreds of miles wrong

Tuesday 08th of March 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
Starting this past Sunday my Google maps location has been hundreds of miles wrong. I am in Central NJ, and it is showing me in Pennsylvania. I am running stock Android. Everything that reports a location (like Beautiful Widgets weather) shows that I am in the incorrect location. I deleted my Google maps cache, but that did not help. Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

auto correct - Can I turn off autocomplete/autocorrect for Google Maps?

Saturday 11th of August 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
When I want to type in a location to get directions, Google Maps brings up a list of suggestions under the textbox. That's fine, but then when there's only one suggestion left, Google Maps overrides what I was typing with that (invariably incorrect) suggestion. This makes it all but impossible to actually put what I want because even if I go back and edit, Google Maps will just clobber my text again. How do I make it stop? I don't see anything under Settings, either in the phone or the app.I'm on a Samsung Galaxy S3. It would be ideal if I could keep the suggestions under the box without the automatic completion, but I'd settle for just turning it all off.

GPS shows incorrect location...

Sunday 05th of January 2014 / androidforums.com
Hello!I recently 'cleaned' my phone, installed everything again...I flashed bobz's CM, Johnny's AOKP baseless and the allfixes zip too.I turned on the GPS and looked at google maps and it was extremely accurate! (Before this, it did not work either), But I turned the gps off because I dont use it often, latter it worked again, a total of three times. But today, when I needed it it is just not working, its says im some kilometers East of my actual location, and the blue 'radious' thing (which is huge) actually includes my real location... but the directions that google gives me are wrong because of that.I googled a bit and did everything that worked for others(using apps, etc) and does not work... I dont use any other apps that need GPS, so Im wondering what broke it, and what I could do to fix it??Thankss

HTC One displaying incorrect location info

Thursday 27th of March 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi all - long time lurker, first time poster here. Having some issues with the location service on my HTC One and I wonder if anyone can shed some light on this because it's got me stumped. Basically the town where I live (lets call it Town A) is about 20 mins away from the town where I work (Town B). When i'm at work, everything seems to be fine. My phone recognises my correct location & the town name displays correctly on the clock/weather widget on my home screen, Google maps etc. However, the problems start when I drive home to "Town A" at the end of the day. For some reason when I get home, my phone is still convinced that i'm back near my place of work. The clock/weather widget displays the name of Town B where I work rather than Town A where I live. When i'm at home & I open Google Maps to see a visual representation of where my phone thinks I am, it shows me near to, but not exactly at, my place of work. If I click the "My Location" icon, it will sometimes update & show my correct position at home. As a result the clock/weather widget then upda

Showing incorrect location

Sunday 13th of July 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
My phone shows incorrect Location on weather and on Google maps. If I reboot the phone it shows the correct location until I do something (anything) on the phone and then it reverts to the incorrect one again. It says I'm in Glasgow which is some 600 miles away! Any ideas? I've only had the phone 2 weeks.
