Things I LOVE and things I HATE about the S4

Wednesday 01st of May 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi, I'm a new member here but I was dying to provide feedback on this phone so here it is! In the last year, I have personally used (for personal use or work) a Windows phone, iPhone 4, 4S & 5, Galaxy S3 and Note 2. I switched from the Note 2 to the GS4 last Saturday. THINGS I LOVE: 1. Group texting. Finally! My biggest frustration with android was that group texting wouldn't work without a third party app like Group Me. Now group texting works just like the iPhone or Windows phone. 2. The camera. I would always take pictures with an iPhone 4S or 5 (work phone or wife's phone) because the outdoor picture quality was better on the iPhone than the Note 2 or GS3. The picture quality on this phone is amazing. THINGS THAT ARE OK: 1. Battery life. Battery life on this phone is not near as good as the Note 2 but it's not near as bad as the GS3. I think the iPhone has a better battery life as well if you're a heavy user (like I am). THINGS I HATE: 1. It's finicky. Twice I've needed to snap a picture quickly and my lock screen was frozen. I had to reboot the phone and miss out on the

I hate my new Galaxy s4.. Battery life drains 1% every MINUTE of use.

Wednesday 10th of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Before you copy paste ways to conserve battery let me tell you what all I have sacrificed. Every gadget and cool feature from air gesture to S voice to eye scan is OFF.My brightness is at 30% which I can barely see in daylight.I have frozen 80% of the apps(bloatware) on the phone.I have power saver turned on.I have data turned off and wifi turned on. I had my phone on for a total of 30 minutes yesterday doing talking on speakerphone and then checked my emails twice. The rest of the day it just idled(with screen off) in my pocket. Battery went down 25%. Today I get up, phone is fully charged. I watch a 4 minute youtube video, visit 3 websites for a total of 6-8 minutes and my battery is down to 94%(thats a 6% drop!!) I have changed batteries to the higher yield 3250mah and back and forth, it simply does not change. I got this phone to use all the features, I got it for the bright screen, I got it because my iphone 4 would not last a day of my moderate usage(im on the internet a good 3 hours a day and then check my emails constantly) without recharge. And im finding I hate this phone..

Samsung Galaxy S3 Upgrade to S4 BACKUP and Transfer DATA HELP!

Tuesday 23rd of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi, Long time lurker here. Enjoy all the knowledge everyone shares. I have a S3 (with AT&T unfortunately but thats another story!) and upgraded to a galaxy s4 which I should be getting soon. I want to transfer all of my data exactly how it is on my S3 to my S4 so that my background/wallpaper and apps all show up on my s4. when I do the transferring of info will my apps show up in the same order/same pages on my new phone as they are on my present S3? I tried doing an entire backup on Samsung Kies and it crashes on the last step of backing up messages at 21% and is frozen. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Kies and am experiencing the same issue. I understand that Kies has a bad reputation but am wondering if there is a fix to this error or what other backup applicaiton I should use so that all my info can seamlessly be transferred to my new s4? I do appreciate everyones help with this issue that is driving me crazy. Also, how has the s4s stock battery been for current users? The s3s stock battery was hoorrible and I had to buy the hyperion extended battery which better

Galaxy S4 charge problem ( Phone suddenly closing )

Thursday 12th of September 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi everyone , i am a new user in this forum. My problem is about Galaxy S4. I am using it for three months, last week downloaded "Du battery saver" application. It cleans background applications, estimating the charge time etc.. Two days ago phone closed suddenly and opened again. After i opened the phone and wrote the pin, phone suddenly frozen. Then i taken the battery and restarted again. If i opened the phone again, the charge was 0. By the way, i removed the application. I plugged in charge, waited for %100 charging. After that i used the phone easily for three-four hours. If the charge percentage drops to %40-45, phone suddenly closed and restarted himself again. After restart the charge was again 0. This rouitine repeated for three or four times. I looked to some native forums in my own country, there are some users which encounters this problem. Do you have any suggestion for me ?

Need a little help, bricked my phone

Monday 07th of October 2013 / androidforums.com
I rooted my Verizon S4 this morning, using this guide [GUIDE] Root for Verizon Galaxy S4 ***VRUAME7 Build Only!*** - xda-developersThen I ran Titanium backup and froze a bunch of stuff. Well, I must have frozen something important because it gets stuck on the white verizon startup screen. I've rooted plenty of android phones in the past, but it's been awhile so I'm really rusty. Did a little research on XDA and found Odin, and an ME7 build MD5 file but it's not working. When I try to flash it in Odin3 I just get:<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..<OSM> Please wait..<OSM> philz_touch_5.15.0-jfltevzw.tar.md5 is valid.<OSM> COMBINATION_I545VRUAME7_I545VZWAME7_690088_REV06_u ser_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 is valid.<OSM> philz_touch_5.15.0-jfltevzw.tar.md5 is valid.<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..<OSM> Leave CS..<ID:0/004> Odin v.3 engine (ID:4)..<ID:0/004> File analysis..<ID:0/004> SetupConnection..<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed.<ID:0/004> Added!!<OSM>

Galaxy S4 - Unfortunately, contacts has stopped working... T-Mobile

Tuesday 15th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi, I have a rooted s4 running 4.2.2. I have not frozen any thing or uninstalled since rooting. I have it for the purpose of titanium backup, greenify, and root explorer.. And to increase my knowledge of smartphone technology. There is a problem ever since I change my number through T-Mobile the other day. I go into batch select mode for multiple email or SMS and every time I do it on my contacts screen or my message screen it freezes and brings me to my home screen with the error message "unfortunately, contacts has stopped working".I have researched this topic and have pulled my battery out for 40minutes and turned back on. Cleared cache on messages and tried to find a work around. (Originally my problem was discovered from messages going into batch select contacts mode. So I tried to batch select contact for SMS and email through contacts option itself.. Same problem). It doesn't sound like messages is the problem.. Has anyone had this problem and if so can you share. Thank you, Sent from my SGH-M919

Samsung Galaxy S4 Warning Camera failed.

Tuesday 15th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
hi guys. yesterday I was taking a walk and taking photos with my 2 month old galaxy s4. I have never had any issues with it. intill yesterday, I encountered a camera crash. I took out my camera, made a panorama, and then switched to auto mode and that's when my camera froze for like 30 seconds. after, it unfroze. I took a picture and the picture came out well accept the white black little horizontal lines on the top and bottom of the photo. after that I got worried so when I went back to the camera, it said the camera failed message and then it brought me to the home screen. after that, I accessed the camera again and everything was fine, the camera worked, accept the interface was frozen. I could not press the shutter button, gallery button, mode button, video button, etc. so I rebooted my phone and now the camera works perfectly. yesterday after the reboot I took pictures the whole day and It was perfect. today it is perfect too, no crashes. im just getting a little paranoid about why this happened and I am scared something is wrong with my phone as I worked and paid full price. ev

Samsung Galaxy S4 - Open case causes black screen of death?

Tuesday 05th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello--I have a case for the GS4 from Evecase. It's wallet-type and has the flip cover, but when I'm using the phone I never close the cover, nor do I have any credit cards or anything in the inner windows. When the phone is in this case, the screen will go black and become unresponsive after a few minutes. This will often happen during any function I'm trying to perform with the phone. Writing an email, suddenly the screen goes black and frozen. If I shake the phone, it usually comes back, but always goes black again. Could the case itself be causing this, even though I don't close the cover (assuming there might be a magnet in the cover)? I have 2 other phone cases and this never happens when I use them... Here's the case: Amazon.com: Evecase Leather Wallet Case with Stand and Credit Card Holder for Samsung Galaxy Note 2 II N7100 - Black: Cell Phones & Accessories thanks
