Question about emoticons/emoji?

Monday 22nd of July 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
If this has been answered before, I apologize, but I've been searching all night for an answer and found nothing. So, I'm very new to the android scene. On Friday I traded in my iPhone 4s for the Samsung Galaxy s4 and so far I am in love. As for my question, I know that android doesn't show emoji unless the device is rooted, but I've noticed that when my friends with iPhones send me emoji that it shows up as a black and white android version of whatever they send me. I was wondering if there's any way that I can somehow use those emoticons, is there some kind of keyboard I need?

Emoji works best with what app?

Wednesday 31st of July 2013 / androidforums.com
Hello everyone! I am new to this forum and android as well! I just switched from my iphone 4 to the new samsung galaxy s4. And I could not be any happier! It is not that I hate apple or anything of that nature, I was just in the need for a change! One thing I have been missing is emojis. I found them to be really cool to send to different people and add something extra to my texting! And well I have not been able to figure out how to enable emojis to send to both android and iphone users! Are there any apps that will help me with this issue? Also, sometimes when I receive picture message, it will just tell me downloading and nothing ever happens, and when I send picture messages to friends it takes forever and a day for my phone to send these messages? Any help in these issues will be much appreciated! Thank you all in advance!!BTW, my phone is on the Verizon network and is 4g LTE. Incase that may help!

Monday 17th of February 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
Even though Samsung released the latest Android version for the Galaxy Note 3 a few weeks ago, the roll out of the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 update still hasn’t begun. Fortunately, those of you who want to taste Android 4.4.2 on your Samsung Galaxy S4 terminals can install the I9505XXUFNAD test firmware that leaked courtesy of Sammobile.Because most of the software features brought by Galaxy Note 3 were patched in the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S4, the new KitKat-based firmware only brings a couple of minor UI changes and the usual KitKat goodies. After you install Android 4.4.2 I9505XXUFNAD on your Samsung Galaxy S4 you will notice that the status bar has became transparent, that the status bar icons are now white, and that the album art is now displayed full-screen in the lockscreen. Among performance improvements and bug fixes, the new firmware also brings a quick-access camera button in the lockscreen, Printing option in Settings menu, emoji support, improved Samsung keyboard, and other such treats. If you want to try the Android 4.4.2 I9505XXUF

Emoji Support on S4/S5

Monday 14th of April 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hey ya'll I have a question regarding emoji's on the Samsung S4 and S5 So I've been using the galaxy s4 on sprint's network and am using the stock messaging app as well as the stock samsung keyboard. I'm also on 4.4.2.My phone is able to send the samsung emoji's (the ones that look like ios...not the orange funny dudes on google keyboard) and obviously it turns the sms into mms when doing so...... my friend who has the s5 on verizon is able to see them, however I am UNABLE to see the same emoji's he can send me. They come up as black squares with question marks inside em. I do not wish to download any other messaging app or keyboard. Oh, and same with the Nexus 5. My friend sees mine but I can't see his. I've tried switching to using hangouts but they're the same thing. Aren't the two samsung phones suppose to see the same smileys? Why is it that I cannot see ANY emojis besides the basic green android ones? Thanks for the responses!
