Don't which Android phone I should get.(suggestions needed)

Friday 17th of June 2011 / droidforums.net
*Sorry about the messed up thread topic. It's early*Hello all, I am torn between what I should get for my next phone. I am currently up for a new phone on Verizon and right now I have a Envy Touch that resets itself on average twice per day and the battery life is pretty drained. I have been doing a lot of research and I know I want an Android phone over a boring Iphone. I am not really a heavy data user and I would use my phone mainly for email and moderate web browsing. I am just stuck between getting an HTC Inc2 now, or waiting for the new 4g phones to come out, like the Droid 3. I just don't know which way to go. Battery life is important to me, and if the 4g phones coming out this summer have similar battery life to the current 4g LTE phones than I don't know if they will cut it. Price is another factor for me. I really don't want to have to spend more than $200 for my next phone, and I haven't been able to get a clear read on what phones like the Bionic and the Droid 3 will be priced at (Cant tell if the amazon Bionic for $150 leak is the real deal or not). The 3rd factor is th

Porn Apps Infographic — Hey Baby, Wanna Touch My Android?

Friday 23rd of March 2012 / androidheadlines.com
As the late Steve Jobs famously said, “Folks who want porn can buy an Android phone!” Why yes we can and we’ll take that as a compliment, Mr. Jobs! Unlike the stuffy folks over at Apple, Android  – the more open, sexually-liberated platform – has always had a thriving underground porn app scene. Google is very explict in their guidelines about adult apps (ie, don’t post them!) but that hasn’t stopped developers from finding ways to skirt the censors either by selling their apps through other channels – like the porn app store MiKandy – or by continually uploading their apps u…Continue Reading HerePorn Apps Infographic — Hey Baby, Wanna Touch My Android?androidpit.com

HyperDevbox Releases PlayStation Portable Strategy RPG “Generation of Chaos” For Android

Thursday 01st of December 2011 / phandroid.com
Now this is a trend I don’t mind seeing. HyperDevbox Studio is at it again, this time porting another one of their PlayStation Portable titles to Android with Generation of Chaos. It’s funny because I’ve been meaning to purchase this game for my PSP for months now but was hesitant seeing how I can’t remember where I put the darn thing. But you know whats in my pocket right now? My Android phone.Generation of Chaos is a strategy RPG in the vein of Final Fantasy Tactics that offers over 100 hours of turn-based gameplay and is playable on just about any Android powered smartphone. Players can engage in 30 vs 30 battles with over 150 characters to choose from, spanning across 10 different campaigns. HyperDevbox put a lot of work into this title giving you 2 different touch configurations and support for a touch+keyboard combo (with key mapping). The game is also Xperia Play optimized (consider me jealous). The game doesn’t come without it’s downsides, however. Given this is an almost direct port from a PSP game, there is a huge 1.8GB mandatory install o

Question about the next version of android - new features?

Friday 16th of September 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello, I'm new to Android and love a ton of things about it but am quite bummed about 3 important features coming from WM. I could write several paragraphs about the positives of android but was wondering if any of these will be improved in Android 4.0 1. Voice dialing - VC for WM worked great - almost 100% accurate. I can say several sentences when voice dicating text messages and it gets them nearly perfect but for some reason when I say "call john doe at work" i get about a 50% accuracy. Not sure why voice dialing from a fixed number of contacts is so challenging but free form sentence recognition works so well. I've tried VLINGO and while it is much much more accurate I don't ever want to touch my phone to make a call. I want to leave my phone in my pocket - press the BT button and say call so and so and be done with it. VLINGO wants to do too many things and wants you to touch the screen to authorize calls or tell it that you want to make a call. 2. Unread messages. On my EVO 3D I only have one email account set up - my exchange account. WM always was updating and show

Help! My G1 is useless!

Thursday 11th of June 2009 / forums.androidcentral.com
Okay, so I had lost my touch screen abilities a month ago on the g1, don't know how, but they just went out of whack. 3 months before that had happened I dropped my phone and a crack was made on the screen, so my warranty was voided and they wanted to charge me to fix it and I didnt wanna pay the $130 they wanted cause I could still use my phone with the trak ball. Now the real issue... So a few weeks ago I installed the G1 update that I was sent and after that I could do everything but take or make Calls and I couldn't access Gmail or My Contacts. So I took it to a T-mobile store to help me out. After I told them my phone's history, they factory reset it for me. One problem - the start up screen says "touch the android to start". I can't touch the screen, so now I have a G1 stuck on the welcome screen, and the T-mobile store was like, "Wow, that really sucks, I'm sorry". They made my phone completely unusable. The store apparently didn't know that you had to touch the screen to start it up again and if I had known that I would've told them to not reset it. It's n

Goodbye Menu Button. Hello Action Bar - Android Authority

Thursday 26th of January 2012 / androidauthority.com
Google is finally putting an end to the menu button which has probably been one of Android’s biggest downsides UI wise. They are telling developers to stop thinking of those actions that used to be there inside the menu button, and instead use the most important ones in the “action bar” that’s in Android 4.0+, or even implement them inside the app, as many iOS developers have already done on their iOS apps, and other Android developers have done it, too.So why am I saying the menu button was such a big problem? There are 2 reasons – one that is that the physical buttons are completely disconnected from the touch experience, and second is that the menu makes things too complicated, and most regular people don’t know how to use it properly. The first time I got my Android phone and I started playing around with it, I noticed I kept forgetting about the physical buttons at the bottom of the screen because my eyes were completely focused on the touchscreen and what I could see and touch on it. So in the first few moments of trying some apps, I was looki

Quick Review: Affordable and Unique TPU/Hard Plastic Combo Case For The Epic 4G Touch [Video]

Friday 23rd of March 2012 / androidheadlines.com
When it comes to my Android device. I think of it as my baby. Like any good mother, I want to keep it safe, and I find pleasure in dressing it up in various outfits (cases). Seeing how the last case for my Sprint Epic 4G Touch was feeling stale, I decided to shop around the internets for a new outfit. That’s when I came across this generic case featuring a TPU rubber/hard transparent plastic combo. I’ve seen it pop up in my searches a few times and in various colors. “What the hell,” I thought, “I’ll give it a shot.”One thing you should know about me: I’m a cheap bastard. It’s true. I don’t bel…Continue Reading HereQuick Review: Affordable and Unique TPU/Hard Plastic Combo Case For The Epic 4G Touch [Video]Chris Chavez – phandroid.com

Touch screen won't respond

Saturday 19th of February 2011 / androidforums.com
I rarely have problems with my phone and as of this morning my phone will not respond when I touch it. I took it into the store and all they said was it's old they don't carry the original droid anymore that they were going to have to order me a new phone. I use my phone like most people for everything. I did some research online and figured out how to factory reset the phone by pressing x and the power button well now I can't get past the touch droid to begin. Since the screen won't respond I can't touch the android nor can I touch the four corners. Are there any suggestions on what I can do.
