Android distribution chart update: more than 55% of Android phones now run version 2.1

Wednesday 21st of July 2010 / androinica.com
It’s always good news to see the latest Android version numbers, especially when one version holds the majority of the entire distribution. According to the official Android Developers site, over 55% of all Android phones are now running Android version 2.1 with only 18.9% and 22.1% running version 1.5 and 1.6 respectively. We have heard the negative remarks and comments on how Android is fragmented and how it is going to destroy the mobile OS, but with more folks buying Android based devices everyday it shows that fragmentation is more of a nuisance than a curse. You will hear this debate from the iFanboys out there that you can’t have a “unified experience” with many different versions of the “same” OS in existence. There is some sense to this point, but the fact remains that most every mobile OS or OS in general is fragmented, even the dear iOS. There are of course ways around this.Mashable points out that the Android OS is forwards compatible meaning that if you program for 1.5 all versions after will be able to handle the app. Of course you

English version of Final Fantasy III finally hits Google Play, available for $15.99

Monday 02nd of July 2012 / androidheadlines.com
A lot of legendary PC and arcade video games from the ‘80s, ‘90s or early 2000s have landed on Android devices these past few years (and some have even become successful), but RPG enthusiasts have had something missing all along.Final Fantasy, the hugely popular role-playing game franchise which debuted back in 1987 and has had no less than 13 sequels and spin-offs these past 25 years, didn’t manage to find its way to Android, although an iOS version of FF III was released over a year ago.The disappointment grew even more for hardcore mobile gamers across the globe back in March, when Square Enix decided to finally make an Android version of Final Fantasy availabl…Continue Reading HereEnglish version of Final Fantasy III finally hits Google Play, available for $15.99Adrian Diaconescu – androidauthority.com

Tuesday 13th of March 2012 / androidauthority.com
Countless gamers consider Final Fantasy III to be one the best iterations in the FF series, while the readers of the influential Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu even voted FF3 as the eighth-best video game of all time. Unfortunately, it was also a game that took decades to make it to US shore, with Square Enix porting the game to Nintendo 3DS in 2006. The 3D remake of FF3 from the Nintendo 3DS was then ported over to iOS in 2011. And now, the vaunted Japanese video game house Square Enix has released the official Android version of Final Fantasy III, but only in its home country. That’s right, folks. The Final Fantasy III Android port is only available in Japan for now. Following the limited release of another beloved classic, Chrono Trigger, exclusively to Japan, this is another slap on the face of the numerous Android gamers worldwide that are craving for some Square Enix RPG love. You can forget about looking for a workaround, because there’s no real app to tinker with in the first place. But never say never and all that. Who knows? If all else fails, you can give emulators a t
