Wednesday 16th of January 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I am running out of space on my phone to put apps. I have only about .5 of memory left on my phone. I am very unsatified that we cant use the sd Card to move apps to. I feel like l got ripped of for my memory and thinking switching phones. Yes I heard if you root your phon you CAN use the sd to store apps. IS this true?? How hard is it to do after root? Will Samsung ever update the phone so we can use the sd card??Is there something else I can do? This is getting me very frustrated very much. Wtf. Let me know what u think.............What other new phones that you can't use the sd card?? Why did Samsung do this? I mit have to drop the note2 .Did you guys know when you were buying the phone about this situation??Also what do guys have left for memory? What are your plans if you run low??Please also share your thoughts about Samsung only allowing 16gbs for apps/games which some reguire alot of memory/some over 1gb and not allowing the sd card for memory?? Storing Apps on SD the Froyo Way

Saturday 22nd of May 2010 / androidguys.com
Photo: Daniel SanchoWe all rejoiced when we heard that in Froyo, Android would officially implement a way to store apps on SD card storage (commonly known as “apps2sd”). Documentation on how this will work has been published, and some of the details, while reasonable in the context of addressing real concerns, may be surprising. The most important surprise: no apps currently in the Market can be stored on the SD card without being updated. While many of us have already taken advantage of unofficial ways to use sd card space for app storage, its inclusion in the OS will encourage developers to think big, and will remove a barrier to entry for those deciding whether to buy an Android phone. Not to mention the fact that what’s been implemented is a way to store apps on any external storage, not necessarily an SD card. This could have implications as we see Android popping up on different kinds of devices. But we waited so long for an official solution because of a number of barriers: ┬ádevelopers needed to be assured that app storage on a card that can be mounted as a m

As you all know, in the new Froyo 2.2 (or Android 2.2), you can now store apps right to your SD card which i find very helpful to save space!I was wondering, not all apps can do this and the phone has a small amount of space so i was wondering what kind of apps can be put into the SD card and how to put other apps into SD card

Phone Lost All Apps on SD Card

Saturday 08th of September 2012 / androidforums.com
I have no idea what happened, but I looked down at my phone at some point today and noticed that most of the apps on my home screen where just he Android icon. I go to my app folder and it lists most apps in gray and says SD Card next to them. Including Play Store, or whatever it's called.I pulled the SD Card out, loaded it into my computer and I can still see the files, so I don't think the card's corrupted. I can't just install the apps over again though, because Android Market is also gone. The phone left me stranded as I rely on it for Google Navigation all the time... Ideas? Thanks!

Store SMS on SD card?

Monday 09th of March 2009 / androidforums.com
So, I've got this beautiful rooted G1. I recently followed tutorials to store my browser and market caches on my SD card. I was wondering if the same is possible for SMS?Before I rooted my G1, I was always struggling to keep 10MB (at least) of my internal memory free. After I rooted it and reinstalled all my apps, I had 30MB left. WHAT? I wasn't sure why this was, but as I started text messaging, I got the feeling that SMS storage could be a culprit, as my internal memory kept shrinking.I don't know how the file system on Android is, but I can only imagine that a similar process would work for storing SMS on the SD card (similar to storing your caches there). Right? :-/Any ideas? Thanks,GerardP.S: I'm posting this here because I figured developers might know how to do this or if it's possible and the "Tips and Tricks" forum's sticky says no questions. Mods, feel free to move this post if it's in the wrong forum.

Apps on SD card not showing in app drawer...but

Sunday 04th of November 2012 / androidforums.com
Here's a weird one for you. The apps on my SD card are not showing up in the APP drawer. They icons for them on my homescreen are there - kind of, it says the name of the app but shows a standard android icon. I can press it but nothing happens. If I go to the app store and search for an app I know is on my SD card, it shows it as installed and when I press the "open" button, the app runs just fine. I can see all the pics and stuff on my SD card in Gallery and save new pics. So my SD card isn't fried. Wtf?I tried rebooting my phone twice, taking out the SD card and putting it back in, etc. No change. What the heck is the problem?

Can't move app to SD card or take screen shot: must I root?

Thursday 13th of March 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE and a 16GB SD card. Mr. Hildebrand's excellent editorial makes me think--as my only association with the word "rooting" is "avocado pit"--I am one of those who ought not to try rooting my phone. However there are two things I want to do. I wonder if anyone can tell me how to do them without rooting.(1) I want to store one large app--The Simpsons Tapped Out--on my SD card. I tried installing an app I thought would allow me to move the game app--App 2 SD--but it only produced a list of apps that CAN be moved to my SD card: "TSTO" is on this list. I found in forums instructions purportedly for my phone, telling me I could move an app to the SD card by choosing the "move" button in Applications Manager. I have no such button. (I have Android version 4.1.2)So: is there any way for me to move an app to my SD card without rooting my phone? (2) I also read online that I can take a screenshot with my phone by pressing the power button and the down-volume button at the same time. This turns down my volume and then tu

Can I download and/or launch Android games directly to SD Card without rooting?

Thursday 24th of April 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi guys. Before I begin, I'd like to say sorry for creating yet another thread with this topic.I'm a newbie on the Android scene. In fact I purchased a Samsung Galaxy Grand GT-I9082 two months ago. (Yeah, I know Grand 2 came out on the beginning of this month) Well, I'd like to try most ins and outs of the Android, so I downloaded a large number of apps and games and in just 3 days, the device storage was full.I had just recently purchased a San Disk Class 10 32 GB Micro SD. To my surprise, it seems that I can't automatically download games from the Play Store directly to the SD Card. I tried changing the download location to the sd card by using the adb.exe from the Android SDK. However, it seems that my laptop can't detect my device when using adb.exe, my device is already in the USB Debugging Mode. Even weirder, my laptop can still detect and have access to R/W to the device. Is there any alternative way to download games/apps from the Play Store to SD Card directly? Without rooting, as my phone is still under warranty. Also, is there any tips from long time users for me? Especial
