Brand new Rezound, shipped with ICS, want to S-Off

Saturday 15th of December 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
I have a brand new Rezound that came shipped with ICS. I tried to unlock and root, which failed. The boot loader screen reads TAMPERED. So I re-locked the Rezound. Now it says TAMPERED, RELOCKED, SECURITY WARNING. My question to you all is, I want to S-Off my Rezound, is it possible? I've searched the forums. I've come across people who say to leave it alone, people who say it can't be done on a newer Rezound. And I've had people say that S-Off is the only way to root a Rezound shipped with ICS. So I'm looking for anyone with experience or knowledge to help me, anything is appreciative.

AT&T teasing New York City with taste of LTE

Friday 02nd of December 2011 / androidcentral.com
It looks like the LG Nitro HD wasn't the only thing to hit New York City last night: the shiny new flagship is currently surfing on AT&T's 4G LTE network, which hasn't been "officially" switched on yet here in the Big Apple. We'll go ahead and assume that AT&T is still in the testing phases here in the five boroughs, with an official statement on its way. Whether it's here to stay or just a dry run, one thing is clear: AT&T is pulling some major speeds. Last night saw Ookla's Speedtest clocking in at 56.59 Mbps down and 12.81 Mbps up, which is almost too good to be true. Sure enough, this afternoon has already "slowed down" to 13.48 Mbps down and 1.14 Mbps up. Either way, New Yorkers looking to snag the Nitro HD on Sunday will surely be impressed by their data speeds.

New Nova Launcher with sprinkles of Jelly Bean goes beta

Wednesday 08th of August 2012 / androidheadlines.com
When you’re getting bored by your phone, or at least by how it looks, installing third-party launchers – instead of going to a phone relationship counselor – is a more practical solution to bring the love back. One popular option to consider is the Nova Launcher, which has just been updated by TeslaCoil Software to accommodate some Jelly Bean goodness. The Jelly Bean-based version of Nova Launcher is now available as a public beta. If you’re wondering why it’s worth the shout out, it’s because the older version was based on the almost ancient (I kid) Ice Cream Sandwich. Brand new DX2 came with remnants of Cyanogen mod?

Saturday 08th of October 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
I just got it from fed ex yesterday. When I turned it on, it had a cyanogen mod wallpaper already on it. It also has Wireless Tether preinstalled, it has the tv animation when I turn it off, and it has adw and launcher pro installed. No motoblur?? I don't imagine that this is the way all of them ship from Verizon. What would you all do? It doesn't really bother me other than the fact that I paid for a brand new phone, and obviously got one that has been jacked with.. Ben

SwiftKey Update Brings New Winter Theme With All Of The Snow, Wind, And Updated Install Processes Of The Holiday Season

Wednesday 18th of December 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
SwiftKey's latest update won't radically alter how you type in the days ahead, but it will do its best to remind you that, baby, it's cold outside. A new winter theme is available that coats your keys in blue and covers them with snow. A cold gust of wind follows your trail as you trace over the keyboard, and the letters show up as large snowflakes as you type. The keyboard's background itself also sports a frosty design. If this theme is too cool for your tastes, don't worry, that's not all there is to this update. The installer has been tweaked and will now automatically download language packs. This change is joined by numerous bug fixes.Bug fixes:Fixed a bug with punctuation where the symbols weren’t inserted in some situations Improved performance while switching fields or after sending messages in some appsFixed several instances of Force Closes in the appFixed last column of the keyboard being cut on smileys layoutFixed a bug in Hangouts for the keyboard not inserting text after an emoticonFixed a bug in the installer summary screen where if you tap themes twice in quick

Samsung Begins Manufacturing New Memory Chips With 1GB Of RAM On A Single Die

Monday 30th of December 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
Unlike a lot of Android OEMs, Samsung makes many of the components that go into devices in-house. Its chip power not just Samsung devices, but a large chunk of all phones. Samsung's newest memory chips rely on new manufacturing tech that packs in a full gigabyte of RAM on a single die. That would make it economical to get a whopping 4GB of RAM in a phone or tablet. The new chip is the first 8Gb low power double data rate 4 (LPDDR4) module – the low-power variant of RAM is used in phones and tablets where battery power is at a premium. Four of these chips together (remember 8 bits to the byte) makes for a 4GB package. Samsung's last generation LPDDR3 DRAM modules were only 4 and 6Gb in size. These new chips are based on a 20nm process technology with the components packed close together for higher memory capacity. Samsung claims that makes it the highest density RAM in production at this time, and that the data rates will be twice that of the LPDDR3 DRAM powering most current devices while using 40% less energy. All Android devices in production right now are running on 32-bit

Please help. Brand New Galaxy S3 with Unresponsive Screen

Sunday 09th of March 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello, thanks for taking time to read this. I need help with my brand new Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747, AT&T unlocked). The screen keeps freezing up like every 5 minutes. Volume/power/home buttons work fine.Phone receives/sends calls/texts/emails, and responds to s-voice. I tried factory resetting like 10 times but it didn't solve the issue.(out of 10 times, I was able to complete the process only twice because the rest of the time, the screen would freeze.) It's only two-days old, fresh out of box. never been dropped or exposed to water etc.I bought it unlocked/new from the newegg. It's not in a protector case. Is there anything I could do to fix the freezing issue before returning it to the vendor? If it's the digitizer, can I open the case and do something about it? (I'm not familiar or knowledgeable with things like this however.) I'm asking because I'd like to keep the phone. I already activated the SIM and the service with Straight Talk and the whole process of returning the phone and replacing it may take around 2 weeks all the while draining my minutes. Thanks in advance

[Hands-On] Fenix Is A Promising New Twitter Client With Lots Of #HOLOYOLO

Thursday 17th of April 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
Getting too invested in a new Twitter client can be risky these days. There's always the possibility that it won't be updated with the features you want, or bugs might not get squashed to your liking. It may also be awesome and run through its 100k Twitter tokens before being abandoned. Well, Fenix for Twitter might be at least worth taking a risk on. This new app seems to get a lot of things right, and it's only a 1.0 release. Right from the start, Fenix is a snappy app. It probably helps that the dev is following the Android design guidelines pretty closely – Fenix is Holo through and through. I suppose that means most users will find it quite attractive, and it is for the most part. The default UI is Holo light, but you also have dark and black (for AMOLEDs). On Tablets, Fenix has a dual-pane interface reminiscent of Falcon Pro. Apps like this can sometimes look a bit uninteresting now that we've all adjusted to Holo being a thing, but Fenix is still much better looking than most competing apps. It might be nice to get some more distinct UI elements in the app as it evolves
