Sony's latest mid-ranger to sell for $489.99 unlockedHot on the heels of the Xperia Z, Sony's new mid-range offering, the Xperia SP, has also appeared for pre-order on the company's U.S.-based online store. The Xperia SPpacks a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU with Adreno 320 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB internal storage and an 8-megapixel Exmor RS rear camera. On the front is a 720p Sony 'HD Reality Display.' Like its high-end siblings, the SP's internal storage is expandable via microSD card. The Xperia SP also sports a unique aluminum-frames design and a large, illuminated transparent elementunder the screen.Bizarrely, Sony's spec listing for the North American Xperia SP shows support for HSPA+ on 850, 900, 1900 and 2100MHz bands, as well as LTE bands I, II, IV and V. If those specs are accurate, they'd point to an incomplete set of frequencies for both AT&T and T-Mobile. On AT&T you'll get full HSPA+ coverage but no LTE; on T-Mo you're looking at LTE, but no 1700MHz HSPA+ support. The unlocked U.S. Xperia SP variant (C5306) is due t

Sony's just put the Xperia E Dual, an entry-level phone with the ability to carry two SIMs, up for pre-order on its U.S. store for $199.99. The Xperia E and E Dualhit Europe a couple of months ago, where they became two of the first budget Android phones to run Jelly Bean. The internal hardware isn't much to write home about -- there's a 1GHzCPU running the show, a 3.5-inch WVGA screen on the front and a 3.2MP rear camera. But like most budget devices from Sony, it looks well-built with a pretty attractive design. Both black and gold color options are available from the Sony online store. (A note on radio compatibility -- the phone only supports 850 and 1900MHzHSPA, so if you were hoping for full T-Mobile support you're out of luck.)Orders are estimated to begin shipping from Mar. 1, and Sony's offering free ground shipping.Source: Sony Store
