What Is "Device Memory"?

Tuesday 12th of March 2013 / androidforums.com
Just ran out of "Device Memory" space on my v1 Note (N7000, Android 4.0.4) . Auto-update of some app or another failed with insufficient space in "Device Memory" - which shows up as having a total space of only 1.97 gigs.I cleaned house by uninstalling every app that I could find that had not been used recently and now it's OK.... But that's only now....System Settings | Storage does, indeed, show Device Memory - along with USB Storage and SD Card.I'm guessing that "SD Card" is the 64-gig class 10 micro SD that I have in there and "USB Storage" (11.07 gigs) is some sort of hard-wired SD card analog. But what is "Device Memory"? More to the point.... Is there any way that I can force Android to install new apps on to the 64-gig micro SD... or even the "SD Card" instead of pigging up that very limited "Device Memory"?Could "Device Memory" be just a partition of the same physical memory that is "USB Storage"? On my 10.1" Note (Jellybean...) I see that there is no distinction between "Devic

196MB "System Memory?"

Wednesday 30th of June 2010 / android.net
On my Nexus One I downloaded the "My Account" app and it shows that i have 196 System Memory and 83% of it was used up! So I uninstalled some of my apps that use up alot of space and now I barely have any apps left and it still says 70% memory used up! My SD Memory is ok but I want to know what uses up my "System" Memory if not just the apps? And what will happen when it's all used up? Will I not be able to download anymore apps?

Why am i getting "low memory" notification"?

Sunday 11th of November 2012 / androidforums.com
Hey all, a few weeks ago my Iconia started giving me a low memory notice on the lower right side of my screen. I have un-installed every app I don't use, as well as moving all my pictures to Drop box, and I still get this notice. When I click on it, it shows that I have anywhere between 275mb and 410mb of memory. Am I missing something? I have the 16gb Iconia. I think I have a screen shot from this morning attached.....

Can't figure out what is causing "Low Space"

Saturday 08th of October 2011 / androidforums.com
I have been getting the "Low Space, Phone storage is getting low message" however I can't figure out what is taking up space.-I have about 5 apps on my phone that I have had for some time now without getting the message.-I have a minimal amount of pics and txts as I have deleted most in an effort to clear up space.-I have cleared caches-I have moved apps to SD card-I have restarted phone-I haven't downloaded anything extra-I have looked at the amount of space is being taken up by apps and nothing is different or larger than it normally is.I would rather not do a hard reset...does any one have any suggestions?

"Low battery" issue after rooting phone, is it bricked?

Wednesday 03rd of November 2010 / androidforums.com
So I followed these instructions here: Guide to Rooting 2.2 for Windows and LinuxI did the RSD lite to put on the SP Recovery. Rebooted the phone, and it said "Low Battery 0%", I pulled the battery out and booted into the System Recovery. Put on the update.zip file, installed the update, and rebooted. It is still saying "Low battery 0%" and the system keeps force closing. When I try and go back to recovery mode I can't even mount the SD card. I have no idea what to do at this point.

Ascend H866c "low memory" error messages

Sunday 23rd of December 2012 / androidforums.com
Just got this ascend phone (straight talk) the other day, my first smartphone actually. Problem is I keep getting "internal memory low" errors. I moved everything i could to the sd card which has 3.36gb of space left on it but anytime these damn apps try to update I get the error and cant even receive texts. of course they bogged the phone down with google apps, most of which I have no use for. any ideas on a fix for this? I'm sure i need root access to get rid of the apps that were already installed but I have never messed with rooting a phone before. What good is a phone with "access to 600,000 apps" when you cant install anything because theres no RAM

Question Regarding "Miscallaneous Files" and "System Memory"

Thursday 11th of July 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi guys-First time posting in these forums so if this isn't the right place I apologize.I just rooted my Verizon Galaxy S4 today and am now working on backing up using CWM so I can get a new ROM. However, I noticed under storage that "Miscellaneous files" takes up 6.53 GB-6.38 GB of which is "System memory".I was wondering if someone could tell me if this is normal?I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to this stuff so please forgive my ignorance.

use SDcard as "internal memory"

Saturday 28th of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello all..my Note 8 (3G/wifi) is about 6 months old now.., still loving it.. at 4.2.2 and rooted.but the free storage space is killing me.from 16GB out of factory, only 9.9GB can be used, and currently it's less than 2GB free available yes.., all pictures/movies/songs and documents are already put in the 32GB SDcard. how do you guys handle this internal memory limitaton? I've read the "swap memory" procedure, but can't find the specific step-by-step for N5100 device.I don't want to brick it.., so unless there's a foolproof procedure.. I hesitate to do it. is there any way to trick and use the SDcard as "internal memory" ..?or is there any clean - slim ROM so we can use the most of 16GB internal memory..and then add the SNote apps or other apps as standalone install.. thank you very much!
