"Application cannot be installed in the default install location"

Thursday 16th of August 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello everyone. I have recently been getting errors lately saying "Application cannot be installed in the default install location" when trying to update apps. I've had them before but have been able to download and update apps later but now it is not updating. I have tried downloading new apps and no luck either. I am unrooted, running stock 4.0.3, and do not have an SD card installed. Does anyone know what is causing this problem? And how to fix it? And while updating Google Maps, I got another message saying "insufficient storage available" yet I have 9.92 GB of space available. Any clues as to what's causing that? Thanks, Adam

galaxy s2 cannot download updates or new apps

Thursday 25th of April 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello all, I purchased my samsung galaxy s2 two and a half years ago. It came loaded with android 2.x.x or 3.x.x (can't really remember) and everything worked just fine.A while ago i performed a firmware upgrade, via samsung kies, to android 4 (ice cream sandwich). Since the update i have been experiencing a problem - i cannot download new app updates or new apps that are larger than a few (~4) MB. When trying to download a new app i get an "application cannot be installed in the default install location" notification, and trying to update i get "insufficient storage available". I recently updated to android 4.1.2 (jelly bean), but the problem was not solved. Furthermore, i now get a "storage space running low" notification, and my phone does not sync with apps (gmail, for instance). When checking storage space, i see that i have 1.79/1.97GB used in the system storage category and 2.12/11.5GB used in the USB storage category. I do not have an SD card. How can I use the USB storage for photos, videos and apps instead of the system storage, and will it sol

Application cannot be installed in the default install location

Thursday 15th of March 2012 / androidforums.com
I have a Galaxy SII which I bought in Vietnam. Upon purchase they installed some apps on my phone, but there are still 8Gs worth of memory free. I've successfully installed several apps including Cracked.lite, and English to Vietnamese dictionary and more. But, when I try to download other apps: The Chive, Facebook and more I get the error message "application cannot be installed in the default location." I've checked around and I haven't found any posts that clarify the solution for this. I am an extreme novice with this. Thanks for your help

Google Music App Won't Install

Wednesday 01st of June 2011 / androidforums.com
I just got my Google Music invite and I'm in the process of uploading my library. While I was waiting I tried to install the Google Music app on my N1. It downloads, then tries to install itself and then I get the message Installation unsuccessful. Application cannot be installed in the default install location. My phone is completely stock. Not rooted or anything. It's running 2.3.4 GRJ22 with Launcher Pro. What's going on here?

application cannot be installed in the default install location

I get this trying to install an app from google playI know it's not a 'insufficient space' issue as the app is 23MB & I I have 231MB of 1.97GB available (unless the 1.97 GB is storage PLUS RAM SHARED)SO is there any way to workaround it e.g. installing the app to USB storage?

"application cannot be installed in the default install location"

I updated to Android 4.3 on my Galaxy S3 (ATT), and now I get this error whenever I try to install or update an app in the play store:' "application cannot be installed in the default install location" I do not have an SD card (everything internal). I would have thought there might be a setting about whether to download apps to the SD card or internal, but I don't see it anywhere. HELP! Thanks,Mike
