How to backup the Android calendar file (is there such a file)?

Tuesday 03rd of July 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
Does anybody know which files I need to save in order to have a simple backup? Reason for my question is, that my Galaxy Android smartphone lost all calendar data without any interaction. I found tons of apps, tons of sync stuff, but NO simple list of files to save. I do NOT want to save my data remotely on Google. There must be at least one local file (database?) on my phone containing the synced calendar file (on my server, using ICSSync)

Is there any way to have and use a local calendar on Android?I would like to use it on the Android phone and open the file (vcs, ics, anything) on my laptop sometimes.I have not found any applications that deal with local calendar files stored on the SD-card of the phone. I have found only numerous cloud applications so far.Is there any app that can open and edit local calendar files on Android?

Local Calendar Sync needed (with details)

Saturday 02nd of May 2009 / talkandroid.com
I currently own a Nokia N95 and have been holding out for a decent Android phone to upgrade to (looks like it will be the Samsung i7500). I sync the calendar on my current phone to my work (Outlook) calendar constantly and this is a must have feature for any replacement. For reasons described in detail below, I need to do this locally, not via a Google account. I have seen many other posters ask about local calendar synchronising but nobody seems to have described a situation like mine although it must be relatively common:Situation:I am a middle manager in an NHS hospital in the UK. We use shared Exchange calendars, accessed via Outlook throughout the organisation- these are run by our own Trust, not NHS.net or an outsourced company. At the moment I sync my calendar to my current phone manually using a USB cable and Nokia PC suite a couple of times a day and this works fine. I have local admin privileges on my work PC but I have no access to the Exchange server. Apart from being incredibly slow, our N3 Internet connection has various ports blocked, making it unreliable and unsuita

Email & Calendar Help/Recommendations

Tuesday 11th of September 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello All,New to the site and new to Android HTC One X after a frustrating 6 months on iPhone (very unimpressed). I'm LOVING the form factor, but still getting used to using it correctly. I use my phone for business a lot and have a local installation of Outlook that I would like to sync w/the phone. Afer reviewing the threads a bit I installed K-9 for Mail and have my Yahoo Business account configured there - problem is I can't open any attachments and can't respond to any calendar invites. Anyone know if i'm doing something wrong or if there's a better app I should be using? Regarding the calendar, after trying on my own and reading a few posts, aparently it's not possible to 2-way sync an Outlook Calendar (kind of ridiculous if you ask me). So, my work around was to sync my Outlook w/my Gmail Calendar which, in-turn, syncs to the phone. Is this my only/best option at this point, or is there an app that will do a 2-way sync that i'm not aware of. Thanks in advance for your help.

Reminder & calendar help?

Tuesday 20th of September 2011 / androidforums.com
My wife and I finally have smart phones (LG Optimus V), and think Android is amazing!Currently, we have Google Calendar (mine and hers) that we overlay. I'm looking for a native calendar app which will allow:1. Monthly view with tiny text2. Sync events with Google Calendar 3. Task reminders that are local only (I don't want My wife's calendar to be cluttered by my personal reminders, but I would still like to see them on the calendar, if possible). An example is that I may need a reminder for work that my wife doesn't need to see, but I would like to be able to see at a glance.4. Easy to create and edit reminders. 5. Customized alert options (1 ring, 5 rings, ring until cancelled, nag style, etc).6. A pop-up for reminder would be great!7. Set reminder x hrs before due8. I would like the tasks list to show day, date, time, and possibly if an alarm has been set.9. Speech-to-text. I do have Google Voice. It would be nice if the tasks synced with Google Calendar, but it probably isn't necessary as long as I can easily view them in the native app/calendar.I apologize for the mundane reques

More google calendar problems

Sunday 01st of April 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi,I'm using Google Calendar on a Samsung Galaxy Ace with Android version 2.3.5.I've been puzzled by these two anomalies: 1 - if I set a test event to occur perhaps 3 minutes ahead of the current time (as displayed on the phone) the event won't wait to alarm at the correct time, but will usually alarm a couple of minutes early.2 - if I delete an event so that it won't alarm, even if the deletion is 30 minutes ahead of time, it will still set off the notification sound. However, the status bar shows nothing when it's pulled down to view the notification.I should note that I could do both of these things with my previous phones (all Nokias) and the calendar would work as expected.(I should add that I have background data turned off, and am trying to use this as a local calendar, not synched to the "cloud" so to speak. Perhaps I'm not using it correctly ?)Has anyone else seen this odd behaviour? Thanks in advance for your advice,Roger.

Local calendar sync needed (with detail) REPOST from 'Applications'

problems setting up Jorte Calendar

Tuesday 12th of October 2010 / androidforums.com
I just upgraded from a Blackberry Curve to Droid 2 (with no calendar). Based on posts, I downloaded Jorte Calendar. While trying to sync to google I mistakenly selected Jorte calendar from within jorte which means it forces it to be a local-only calendar and won't even try to sync to anything. I can't get it to change from jorte-only mode to google sync mode. I deleted jorte and re-installed it and got the same behavior. Their Q&A page talks about switching from google to jorte modes, not vice versa. Their configuration and sync examples seem to show other phone android customizations and don't match my Motorola droid 2 screens. I'd appreciate any help.Thankscc
