Upgrade Sony Xperia X10 to Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich MIUI 4

Monday 06th of February 2012 / androidauthority.com
In the light of the latest, more powerful, and heavyweight releases of Xperia phones, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 would look like it has been overshadowed.  One would think that the Xperia X10 would never see the day when Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich would bless its internals. The truth, however, is that such a day has come.  Thanks to a modified version of MIUI 4, Ice Cream Sandwich is just a flash away from the Xperia X10.  The ROM, called Oodie Prime ROM, is an alpha version of MIUI 4 for the Xperia X10, so, this is still pretty much unstable.  Oodie Prime is based on the CyanogenMod 9 Free Xperia Project (FXP), and therefore carries all of the issues and bugs that the FXP CM9 code has.The camera, mobile data, USB tethering, and USB mounting do not work yet, according to the developer.  But, the following do work: GSM, messaging, Music, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi tethering, Superuser permissions, and GPS.So, if you’ve got what it takes to take your Xperia X10 on an ICS joyride, continue reading our step-by-step guide on how to install Oodie Prime – MIUI 4 (ICS 4.0.3)

[Bug-Watch] Android 4.3 - Running An App That Watches The Clipboard Will Cause Other Apps To Crash When You Copy From Them.

Thursday 08th of August 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
We're all happy to see Android 4.3 finally make its appearance, especially as it brings some pretty important and positive low-level improvements like Bluetooth Low Energy and TRIM support. Unfortunately, new versions often introduce new bugs that slip by even the most diligent testers. Jelly Bean 4.2 had its fair share of issues, including an almost comically bad oversight: the total annihilation of December in the stock Contacts app. This is why each major release is often followed by a couple of bug fix OTAs in the following weeks. We're going to start a running series to examine some of the bigger and more user-facing issues. We're kicking things off with an obnoxious bug in ClipboardManager, a nicely segregated little service with the sole responsibility of holding on to the bits of information users copy from one place and eventually paste into another. Don't worry, the bug isn't affecting any of the core functionality, so copy/paste will keep working as normal. However, things go wrong once you have an app installed that requests to be notified of changes to the clipboard thro

Customs ROMs with bluetooth 4.0?

Wednesday 02nd of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Can you tell what bluetooth drivers a custom rom has? I use a fitbit flex which needs bluetooth 4.0 to sync with the phone. When I've tried custom roms that are android 4.2 or higher the fitbit doesnt work, but a 4.1 rom I have does. (The fitbit is supposed to work with android 4.3) their support website mentions some issues with custom roms and implies it would be if it didnt have the bluetooth 4.0 drivers. Id like to be able to use an android 4.2 or 4.3 because my service is slightly better but would really like the fitbit to work. I didnt know if theres a way to look at the details of a rom to see the bluetooth drivers. Sent from my SGH-T889 using AC Forums mobile app

Is Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 Working?

Thursday 17th of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I am just wondering if anyone has had success getting Bluetooth Track metadata to be listed when syncing to bluetooth devices such as ones found in our cars. I have a Ford Focus and when I send media to the Ford Sync system using things like Pandora or BeyondPod, the only information listed is "Unknown" under the bluetooth category. I know that this in particular was an Android issue and was not support through Android until 4.3 Jelly Bean. My previous phone was a Galaxy S3 rooted with Tasks latest rom running Android 4.3 and that device works properly. It syncs immediately with the car stereo and track listings are displayed properly as well as incoming text messages display on the screen. This is not the case with my brand new Galaxy Note 3. I assumed that since it was running Android 4.3 and supported the newer bluetooth standards that it would perform similarly. That might have been my first mistake...assuming....but is anyone else having similar issues? Can someone point me in a direction that I might be doing something wrong? Im really hoping its just a setting I am m

Samsung Talks Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 Update Bugs

Monday 18th of November 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
The Android 4.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S3 was released by the South Korean phone maker a couple of weeks ago and, soon after, the users started to complain about several bugs that were affecting their devices after the update was installed. We’ve got our hands on the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update ourselves and after only a few hours of testing we manged to see that it’s indeed full of bugs, as Samsung probably rushed with the new firmware update. Moreover, even though Samsung said that KNOX will be implemented in Android 4.3 for Galaxy S3, the security feature is still nowhere to be found. The folks at Sammobile have compiled a list of “major issues” found in the Android 4.3 update for Galaxy S3. Therefore, if you updated your device to the latest official firmware you might encounter wake up lag, random freezing, poor battery life, issues with music playback using Samsung Music app, Bluetooth Audio problems, bad RAM management (makes multitask almost impossible to use), problems with WiFi connectivity, and black screen while receiving calls..androidg

Fitbit support under android 4.4 / moto x ?

Sunday 24th of November 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I've seen conflicting posts about this. Moto x isn't officially listed on the fitbit site. I assumed this was because of bluetooth le libraries, which were added in android 4.3 and 4.4. I have android 4.4 on an AT&T moto x. Fitbit detects the device, but it won't sync it (steps don't show up). An info icon next to the device says there are known issues with this device, not supported. But I've seen other people here and on other sites say that it works. Is this a carrier specific issue (eg are the right bluetooth libraries not on this device). If you have a fitbit please post your experience and the carrier you are using. Thanks

Canadian Android 4.3 Update for I-747M Observations and Issues

Wednesday 27th of November 2013 / androidforums.com
The update started rolling out yesterday. I got mine last night. My first impression was that the phone seemed a bit smoother. Not sure if it is 4.3 or the fact that I just rebooted it. I'll have to see in a few days if it is still smooth. The big issue I am having is with BlueTooth. It refused to connect with my car's audio system. I had to delete the setting in my car and readded it. After readding, I found that the track information was not showing up on my stereo's display while playing music. When I turned off the car and back on, the phone again did not connect with my car's BT audio. This is a serious issue as I listen to music from my phone whenever I'm in my car. Anyone else have this issue? I rebooted my phone and will try again the next time I start my car. I noticed that my Volume Widget now displays larger text when I change sound profiles. Before, the text was very small like it wasn't scaled properly for the larger phone. The text is now similar to size compared to my old phone (HTC Desire Z). The systems settings menu got reorganised. I actually like the new organisat

Tuesday 03rd of December 2013 / androidforums.com

Firmware update 4.2.2 to 4.3 and bluetooth earpiece issue

Friday 13th of December 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hi. I just bought a FonePad 7 and Samsung HM1700 bluetooth earpiece. After configuring the Fonepad 7, system asked for firmware update and I accepted. Then paired the earpiece without problem and could listen music. When I made a call, people could listen me but I couldn't. Short story, every bluetooth earpiece I've tried had same issue but worked fine with other devices. Went back to store and find similar issues with the PadFone 7 at exhibition (this time people couldn't listen but I did). So I asked for a new one without the last firmware update and every bluetooth earpiece we tried worked. So, any solution for this? Default Android before firmware update is 4.2.2. Update is 4.3 Thx.
