Can I get Verizon 4G coverage on ST prepaid

Friday 10th of August 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi all, I am a dumb phone user now. I am thinking about getting Android smartphones for my wife and I, we are currently with Verizon ( just out of contract) and am looking at Straight talk. We do a fair amount of motorcycle touring, often getting off the beaten path and have been happy with Verizon's coverage. I don't want to be broke down on the side of the road with no coverage, but, I do know there will be dead spots no matter what tower network covers us. Just looking for our best option.Straight talks Android coverage map has me concerned. I need some schooling please. The questions I have are(1) If I get an unlocked ( CDMA )Verizon 4G LTE phone and activate it with Straight Talk would it be limited to ST android coverage map or would I get coverage as shown on Verizon's coverage map ?(2) Would I be able to get the 4G speeds?(3) Is Att's 4G coverage really as good as it shows?Thank you for any help you may offer.

Need LG Optimus Q help!

Monday 04th of June 2012 / forums.androidcentral.com
I'll try to make a long story short but I'm giving this background info in case it may help you help me... so bear with me. I flashed AreaRomQ. It worked great. I loved it. I ran into a problem while trying to get my girlfriend a new phone, Straight Talk put MY number on her new Samsung Proclaim. After 6 calls to customer service and a few emails, I'm STILL battling this problem. My number is back on my phone, her number is back on her phone but neither phone will activate. Her phone will TRY to activate when you dial *22890 but fails every time. Mine treats the activation code like it's another phone number and says I dialed an incorrect code. When I dial any number, it doesn't even give a Straight Talk message or send you to customer service. It just says my account could not be validated. I thought if I could get the option to update my profile back, it would help. AreaRomQ doesn't have this as you know, so I flashed Hydro. I must have done something wrong because Hydro was missing some key apps like Android Market/Google Play Store and Terminal Emulator. So I figured I'd start fr

Jumping Ship

Monday 29th of October 2012 / androidforums.com
While I love my Evo all good things must come to an end. I was planning on keeping this phone for a year before upgrading, but the Nexus 4 just hit the spot for me. The 16GB version can be found here:https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_4_16gb1.5GHz quad core, 2GB RAM, 720p IPS screen, Android 4.2, and the fact that it's a Nexus device with no manufacturer overlay (not to mention frequent updates) sold me. The 8GB version is available for $300, while the 16GB version runs $350. I'm going to buy the unlocked 16GB version straight from Google and activate it on T-Mobile's prepaid service (Unlimited data, texting, and 100 minutes for $30 a month off contract). I hardly ever talk on my phone so 100 minutes is enough, but you can get unlimited calling, data, and texting for $50 a month on their pre-paid plan if you talk a lot.I would like to say thank you to this community for making this phone usable for the time I've had it. I have not once received a radio interference error thanks to the guide on flashing a new radio by Leslie Ann. I would also like to thank Mobsterg

Straight Talk - Moving SIM from Windows to Android

Friday 21st of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Hello...I'm very frustrated and could use some expert advice because I'm not getting any from Straight Talk. Purchased a ST SIM card last month and successfully activated it with a Windows phone. I now want to move the SIM from the WP to a Samsung Captivate. Is the SIM card tethered to the WP? When the SIM is inserted into the Android phone there is no network available. Is it possible to use the same SIM or do I have to purchase another one to activate it with the other phone? Or is there another step that needs to be completed to activate the current SIM with the Android? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.ERowley
