Ace GT-S5830 Upgrade to Jellybean

Sunday 09th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
My Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830 is currently running 2.3.5 which I believe is still the most recent 'official' OS.I am at the point where I either invest in a new phone with newer OS or have a go at updating to Jellybean 4.2.2I read LOADS of stuff on various forums including a 165 page thread on XDA which goes into immense detail but served to confuse me more because its an evolving thread with no real conclusion or answer to my main questions.I watched a few YouTube demos and have a pretty good idea of the process and want to give it a try since I have nothing much to lose as the phone is not fun to use due to recent App Updates causing full memory and bad performance.I already rooted, deleted caches, moved stuff to SD etc but it's still not enough. Which is the most reliable tested and foolproof ROM ?What is the download location for it ?Any negatives I need to know like reduced battery life or elements of the hardware that are unsupported ?I just need a reliable phone for work (not worried about games) that responds quickly and isn't laggy and annoying to use.Any pointers towards f

Downgrading on Ace 2 to Gingerbread

Monday 24th of June 2013 / androidforums.com
Hi there. I recently upgraded my Galaxy Ace 2 to Jellybean from the leaked software. Whilst the OS is great, it's too laggy on the phone, so wanted to return to the original OS, gingerbread. There's various guides on how to do this following other peoples dissatisfaction for Jellybean, but when downloading the file 'I8160XXLK6_I8160OXXLK1_HOME.tar.md5' every guide says that after extracting, there should be 3 files:- CODE_GT-I8160XXLK6_CL1211243_REV00_SEC_KEY_LK6-4G.tar.md5 - CSC_GT-I8160-MULTI-CSC-0XELF1_SEC_KEY_4G.tar.md5 - GT-I8160_EUR_XX_4G.pit But following extraction the only file that appears is "GT-I8160_EUR_XX_4G.pit". Has anyone else encountered this and know the solution? I've tried searching for the individual files online to no avail. I'm familiar with the process of using Odin after using it for the upgrade, but this has stumped me.I'd appreciate all the help as I can get as my phone is currently stuck on the main logo screen.

galaxy ace 2 jellybean

Friday 30th of August 2013 / androidforums.com
hello i recently updated my gingerbread to a jellybean software on my galaxy ace 2.I had never done anything like that before but i followed the steps that Techfusions explained on youtube. I know that the upgrade was legal and official. but here's the thing:my phone has been really slow ( i'm talking 2 minutes to open messages ) and it often doesn't do what i want it to do. It's really weird because in the video's i watched the ace 2's were all running perfectly with the jellybean softw. so does anybody know what the problem is? and also: HOW DO I FIX THIS? thank you so much
