Microsoft Releases Xbox SmartGlass Application for Android Phones, A New Favorite App for Gamers – Droid Life

Friday 26th of October 2012 / droid-life.com
With the launch of Microsoft’s Surface this week, the part that gamers were all waiting for was the SmartGlass integration that allowed tablets to interact with your Xbox 360. If you remember during their E3 press conference this year, Microsoft said they would be bringing this integration to Android devices, and today they’ve started with the release of their application for Android phones.┬áLong story short: this application is flat-out awesome. If you have an Android phone and an Xbox 360, there is no reason you shouldn’t have this installed. As a stand-alone app it is fantastic, allowing you to sign in and see everything about your profile and your friends that you could see on your console. Check achievements, send messages and even more. That’s not even mentioning how smooth and functional the app is at it’s core.Where the application really shines though is when you sync it to your Xbox and use them in unison. Your phone now becomes a remote and you can swipe across the screen to move pages on your TV – buttons show up on your device for eas

Friday 01st of June 2012 / androidheadlines.com

Borders Releases New eBook Reader App For Android Called Borders eBooks

Sunday 07th of July 2013 / androidpolice.com
This morning, Borders’ website was updated with new instructions for obtaining the Borders eBooks reader app for Android, in conjunction with its launch of the Borders eBooks store. The app (as stated above) will only work on Android 2.0+ devices. Once you create a Borders eBooks account (which can be done entirely through the app), you can purchase eBooks in-app (uh-oh Kindle for Android) and read them straight away! We’ve provided a couple of screens below. It is worth noting that the app is still powered by Kobo’s eReader software, and sports a UI that is almost exactly the same as Kobo. So if you’re a fan of Kobo but like the additional functionality of Borders’ app (read further), this will probably be the eBook-purchasing app of choice. Borders eBooks has also released apps for Windows, OS X, iOS, and Blackberry devices. The difference between Kobo and Borders eBooks? Borders eBooks exclusively accesses the Borders selection of eBooks and provides the ability to purchase eBooks straight through Borders.com, much like Amazon’s Kindle Bookstore.

Tuesday 13th of July 2010 / androidcentral.com
Knew it was only a matter of time before we saw a Bing app for Android, right? It's pretty good for Windows Mobile, pretty darn good on the iPhone, and we're expecting it to be really good on Windows Phone 7. So it only makes sense that we get to play with Microsoft's "DecisionEngine"on Android, right? This is all happening as we speak (erm, type)at the Bing SearchSummit in San Francisco. Says CNet's Ina Fried:Microsoft isn't announcing a lot of new things at this event, but it is talking for the first time about plans for a Bing Android client as well as new mapping features and a new TV listings feature that is in testing and about to launch. We'll keep an eye out for more. Stay tuned. [CNet via LiveSide]
