Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Update For LG Optimus 2X To Roll Out Soon

Monday 03rd of September 2012 / android.gs
Great news for the owners of the world’s first dual-core smartphone. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for LG Optimus 2X is finally here, and will soon roll out for the international model, too.The whole story about the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich firmware update for LG Optimus 2X rather looks like the script for a soap opera show, with the South Koreans promising that the update will roll out, then changing their mind out of nowhere, while the smartphone’s owners were sad seeing their terminal left behind. Anyway, it looks like LG decided it’s time to release the official Android 4.0 ICS update for LG Optimus 2X, now almost a year after the operating system saw the light of day synchronized with the launch of Galaxy Nexus. The new firmware update have already hit the LG Optimus 2X SU660, a variant commercialized on the South Korea market, and all the tech publications are writing that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich’s port for the international model is imminent. Better late than never. LG Optimus 2X was launched with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, then

4.0 ice cream sandwich - Can I use the default music app in ICS without linking it to my google account?

Saturday 03rd of March 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
I somehow cannot use the music app in android without linking it to my google account first. So - against my will - I linked it to my google account. I did this because I was hoping to remove that link later from within the app. As it turns out, this is not possible.I do not use google music and want to avoid granting access to private data when it's not necessary.QuestionCan I use the default music app in ICS without linking it to my google account?

4.0 ice cream sandwich - Can I customize the list of text messages that I can send when I slide to 'Text' instead of 'Answer' for an incoming call?

Friday 03rd of August 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
I love the ICS feature that allows you to select 'Text' instead of 'Answer' or 'Ignore' for incoming calls, but I would love to be able to set what the options are for outgoing texts. Is this possible?I am running ICS on a Droid RAZR MAXX.Thanks!

4.0 ice cream sandwich - Can I disable the camera sound in the new ICS camera app (in silent mode)?

Thursday 01st of March 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
Android got a brand new camera app with ICS. The old camera app from previous android versions didn't play a sound when the phone is in silent mode, the new one does. Obviously this can be somewhat anoying in some situations. Can this sound be muted?Note: I'm asking for an answer that doesn't require a rooted device. I'm aware that I can rename/delete the sound files from the system (as documented in this question), but I'd rather not root a device just for this.

4.0 ice cream sandwich - Can I prevent ICS browser from using CPU while in the background (without back-button exiting)?

Monday 13th of August 2012 / android.stackexchange.com
I'm running ICS 4.0.3, and I notice if I have the Web app (default browser) open, but not in the foreground, it still uses a lot of CPU (25-50%), based upon the built-in Android Task Manager. Other apps are using 0%. Looking at my battery usage, the Web uses about 33%, even when my phone is inactive. Is there any way I can prevent the Web app from using so much CPU when it is not in the foreground, without using the back button to exit? I'm running on a Samsung Galaxy S2.Edit: If the best answer is to use a different browser, I am open to that suggestion.

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich Can Turn Your Galaxy Nexus Into A Video Game Console

Friday 21st of October 2011 / phandroid.com
With Android Honeycomb we saw the introduction of USB hosting, allowing for connectivity with device like a USB hard drive or USB gamepad (like the Xbox 360 controller) on a tablet for use with games or emulators. In case there was any doubt that this would also be a feature in Ice Cream Sandwich, Romain Guy reminded everyone via Twitter today, that USB gamepads will be fully functional in ICS as well. Couple that with HDMI output and this would essentially turn your Galaxy Nexus into a full fledged portable gaming console (with the right emulators of course).Cruising around Reddit I found this screenshot of exactly what can be found in the Android SDK in regards to game controllers. You can see it’s a sort of tutorial from Google on setting up a game controller for Android 4.0. Of course, when testing out this function don’t forget — it always helps to imagine you are a lone space cowboy in hot pursuit of the aliens who kidnapped your favorite llama on their way back to Andromeda. Pshh, duh… Who’s ready for some serious Android gaming on your smartphone
